In the 1980s, Robert Brozin and Fernando Duarte started Nando’s, a UK-based chicken restaurant featuring Peri-Peri chili sauces. Their inspiration came from cuisine created centuries ago by Portuguese settlers in South Africa. When the concept developed a devoted following, Nando’s spread worldwide. Aria Group helped bring Nando’s to the U.S. Causal comfort, natural materials and support of contemporary African artists are key elements of the design, but each location reflects local flavor.
